Wallet Optimiser: Which Card to Use for Each Purchase
If you already have two or more credit cards, you can earn much more simply by using the right one for each purchase. Tick the cards you own to see the best card for every spending category, and the one card that would add the most value to your wallet.
Why card choice per purchase matters
Most cards pay a high rate in a few categories and 1% or less elsewhere. Using a 5% Amazon card on Amazon, a 10% food card on Swiggy and a fuel card at the pump can easily double what you earn compared with using one card for everything.
Things to keep in mind
- Monthly caps. Once a card hits its cap, switch to your next-best card for that category.
- Fee waivers. Spreading spend across many cards can make you miss a fee-waiver threshold. Our fee break-even calculator helps you decide.
- Exclusions. Rent, fuel, wallet loads and utilities are often excluded or charged a fee.
FAQs
How many credit cards should I have?
Two or three is enough for most people: one broad cashback or rewards card, one for your most-used platform, and optionally a travel or fuel card.
Does using multiple cards hurt my credit score?
No, as long as you pay every card in full and on time and keep overall usage low.
